We were able to have an amazing week this last week! On Tuesday though, I sprained my ankle and it was really bad couldn’t walk on it at all, but I received a blessing twenty minutes the incident and it is healed already! I know the power of the priesthood brings to pass many miracles!
So other than that, this week was absolutely incredible! We were able to be blessed to find 10 souls who have been yearning for the gospel, and we made them all new investigators, 3 of which, attended church this last week! We have 5 baptismal dates still, but really need the members to rally around them so we can continue to help them progress in the gospel. We had a district meeting on Friday about the Book of Mormon, and a crazy statistic is that of the recent converts in the church, only 21% of them had read 1 chapter or more from the Book of Mormon! That is gnarly, well horrible actually, so we have taught all of the new investigators the importance of the Book of Mormon as the first lesson. We felt the spirit especially strong with a young couple that were having their first date watching The Office. We talked to them and it got really spiritual. The guy began to talk about the importance of building your rock and foundation, so we shared Helaman 5:12, and he was like, “yo, that is just what I said” and he continued to just spit scripture, and we would show him it in the Book of Mormon, and oh man he was so excited for this further knowledge. We are really pumped about them and can’t wait to see what is to come for the other investigators!!
This last week in my Book of Mormon studies, I have learned a lot! The first thing is when I was studying the administration of the Sacrament to the Nephites found in 3 Nephi 18:3 when it says ” And while they were gone for bread and wine, he commanded the multitude that they should sit themselves down upon the earth.” So the word sit caught my attention, so I studied it further in Luke 16:6, Mark 6:39, Matthew 15:35, Matthew 14:9, and in all these accounts there is the commandment to sit, and then proceeding it he administers or does something important. From this study, the spirit taught me that often times, we need to sit, or in other words, focus or heed to the words, especially in preparation to the sacrament. I also learned that in the church, there are times we are commanded to sit, and there are also times when we are commanded to arise, or take the action. Let us sit when we need to sit, and arise at the times we need to arise.
I testify that the sacrament is instituted the way we need it, and that it is the most important ordinance we do in the church. I know that the church is true, and that my Savior suffered for me in Gethsemane. I hope you all have a wonderful week!
