Learning by teaching

This week has been another good one!

We were blessed to find 6 more people who are interested in the message of the restored gospel, in which each of them we taught and testified of the importance of the Book of Mormon. We have been doing a lot of contacting and working with less active. At the same time, we have also been finding a bunch of new investigators. This week we had a wonderful Spanish class where we were able to teach our students how to pray in English. It was so great to see them that they are learning so much!

On Friday we had a good District Meeting in which we talked about the questions of the soul that can be answered through the Book of Mormon. Something that impressed me was that the example given in Preach My Gospel are just examples, and that there are other questions of each of OUR souls. I urge everyone to look for those, and to search the Book of Mormon to answer them.

On Saturday we had an amazing training about Teaching in the Savior’s way, and I was taught many things through that training about “What Lack I Yet”. I am excited to apply the things I have learned into my daily life so I can become the teacher the Lord wants me to become.

We were able to do some service and it was great because we happened to speak on service in the Clear Lakes ward. Something that Elder Royal shared that impacted me was sharing the comparison of the seas in the middle east. The Sea of Galilee is a fruitful body of water that springs up life, while using the same water that the Sea of Galilee has, the Dead Sea is anything but fruitful. He compared this to our life with or without service, we all are given opportunities to serve, and so we have the choice to serve and bring forth fruits, giving our life meaning and worth, or with those same opportunities, or we can do nothing with them, and that is how we become of no worth… Service is the essence of the Gospel, and as mentioned in Matthew 10:39: “He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” I know that to be true.

Following Elder Royal, I spoke and literally got rid of all my plans, shared two scriptures at the beginning, and then asked questions almost the rest of the time. I know not why, but I testify the spirit was working through me, and that questions are SO important in every aspect of the gospel. One of the things I shared was the fact that God impacts every life he comes in contact with, and we know that we are trying to be like our Father in Heaven, and so how the question came…How many of you can say that you have impacted each life you have come in contact with, how many of you can say 3/4 of the people, or 1/2 of the people, now Brothers and Sisters, it is time for great reflection, to realize that if you want to try to be like our Heavenly Father, we have to do Hevenly Father things… Think of what you lack yet, and as will I, and I promise the Lord will help you to find service opportunities as you search for them. I know these things to be true, and live and testify of them in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Have a great week!!!

Con Amor,

Elder Saunders
