Called by God

We found a new person to teach this last week, and taught about the Plan of Salvation, and he invited us back on Tuesday when his entire family will be home. He has a daughter who has cancer and so we explained to him about the purpose of this life is to “prepare to meet God”(Alma 34:32). We taught with the spirit that our Heavenly Father does not want his children coming back the same, but that he wants us coming back to him stronger, and more like him. It was a powerful lesson and can’t wait to see him this next Tuesday!

This last week was a once in a lifetime experience. We had Elder Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve, Elder Carl B. Cook of the Presidency of the Seventy, Elder Brian K. Taylor of the Seventy, and Elder Alder of the Seventy, they came to talk to our entire mission this last week!

The Lord brought 4 messages that he wanted to share with us through Elder Renlund. The principles he wanted to share with us were:

1 Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.

2 “On behalf of the Lord Jesus Christ himself, we have been sent to say “THANK YOU, thank you, thank you, for all you do, and have done, to apply the doctrine in your mission”

3 You have been called of God by a living prophet

4 President Bartlett and his companion have also been called of God by a prophet.

Some of the other things I learned from this incredible experience is the importance of physical well being. In D&C 4:2 it says: “Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him  with all your heart, might, mind, and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day” If we take care of our bodies more, we will have more heart, more might, more mind, and more strength to serve God with, how incredible is that!

Also from this scripture we see a pattern of forgiveness from the Lord to his servants. Other than baptism, the number one reference that goes in conjunction with a remission of your sins is missionary work. The Lord in this scripture promises that we will “stand blameless before God at the last day” or in other words, we will receive a remission of our sins as we do missionary work. This brought me comfort knowing that the Lord forgives me for my faults everyday as I repent and continue to work on them.

I know that this is the work of the Lord, too many miracles have happened for me to deny that.I know that I have been called of God, my Mission President has been called of God, the prophets and apostles have been called of God, WE have all been called by God, WE ARE ALL ENLISTED. I hope you realize were you are and why, and that the Lord has called you there at that very moment. I love you all and thank you for the prayers!

Con Amor,

Elder Saunders
