First Week in Acequia!

Great week this week and I am so excited to be here in Acequia.

My new companion is Elder Castellano and he is such a homie and we get along good. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for us and the area. We have met a lot of people and we have also been able to see some of the blessings of being obedient. Not too many lessons this week but just trying to get to know the area as well as the people.

The goodbyes were hard to say in Raft River and Malta but I know that the Lord has some great stuff in store for us. Elder Castellano also served in Malta and so we talk about people there and yeah that is pretty cool.

I attached a picture of me with Luis y Marycruz and Emita and also some other pics of the new area. We had a great program at church as well and we had the opportunity to translate and yeah it is really fun and I hope we can find a lot more new investigators in this area.

Right now we cover 5 wards but I know that we will be able to find who is prepared and the spirit will help them to work towards baptism.

Thanks for all the prayers and support!

What a Finale for my time in Malta

We had an amazing baptism this Saturday for Roy Gomez and man he is a completely different person. I know that he will be an awesome member. That night after the baptism he went and read the entire Introduction to the Book of Mormon all the way to 1 Nephi 2 because of the counsel from the talks that as he reads the Book of Mormon each day he will never leave the church. Man he had improved so much and can’t wait to see how he is when I come back. We also had a great party afterwards with Carne Asada y Barbacoa and hand made tortillas and man it was so good.

I know that the gospel changes lives now, I feel it me. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and as we continue to read it each day we will never fall away from the church. I am so happy and can’t wait to see what else is in store.

I have been transferred to Acequia and my new companion will be Elder Castellano, and I am super pumped, even though I am a little sad at the same time.

I am so grateful for all the members here and their support. Thanks for all the support!

Amazing baptism

Another Great Week in Malta

Great week this week. We had Miguel a newer investigator come to watch conference and Roy Gomez came and watched some conference as well. I am really pumped about Roy’s baptism and hope the Lord will continue to work in his life so he can continue in the progression of the gospel.

We had a new investigators this week named Joel and David and they are really interested and we are pretty excited to see what is to come out of that.

This General Conference was amazing!!! I really like President Nelson’s talk about how the atonement isn’t a living thing that helps us to return to the presence of Heavenly Father, but it is JESUS CHRIST, he is the doer! I absolutely loved that talk and then also the talk in Priesthood Session by David Bednar that was super powerful to me and I testify that we are guided by prophets and apostles today.

I know they are called of God, and that we have the same organization that was once on this earth when Jesus Christ was here on the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is the most correct book here on the earth and is the way we can build our faith and never waver from the church if we read it every day. Thank you for all the support,

Que semana

I had another killer week this week. Roy has been doing everything right to prepare for baptism. Gama is still progressing and is in like 2 Nephi 20ish. Luis has been reading quite a bit and now is in Jacob 4 so that is really cool! Roy, Luis y Marycruz, Jose and his kid Manuel, and Miguel, a new investigator, all came to church yesterday.

We have had a lot of less actives come to church and man there are so many good people here!

We taught a couple lessons and also had the great opportunity to do a lot of service on Tuesday. From 12-3 we made maple donut bars and they are sooooooo good. from 3-5 we helped build a drama set for the play that is coming up soon and that was really fun, and then from like 5:30-9:00 we were picking up the sand bags that are all around the neighborhood and that was super fun! It was really muddy and it started to hail and I didn’t have a jacket because it was like 65 degrees and then the hail came out of nowhere so I have a couple bruises still but it truly was soooo fun.

I testify through selfless service we can be happier. I testify that as we strive to be more like Him we will be immensely blessed for it. I am greatful for all the support I get from your prayers and thank you for all the love.

Prayer Works

Wow I have really had another great week! On Tuesday we committed Roy Gomez to baptism and he will be baptized April 8th, so pretty soonπŸ‘πŸΌ. We just went over the qualifications and I was pretty blunt and just said who cares about somebody if you are trying to follow Jesus and you know the Gospel is true and he said that that is exactly what he needed to hear and so he will be baptized April 8th!

I lost my CTR ring for a couple days and it was brand new and I was really sad and so I knelt down and prayed and then felt the impression to read my scriptures and I did and then when I got up to go help Elder LeFevre with something I felt a hard thing hit me in the back, and I saw my ring land on the bed!!! I immediately knelt down and gave a prayer of thanks for the Lord comforting me by me finding my ring. Funny enough yesterday’s subject was on prayer and so I had an opportunity to share that experience and it felt so awesome to do so πŸ™πŸ‘πŸΌ.

We met with an awesome kid named Austin Montoya and taught him about prophets and prayer and then used his interests (being an EMT) to show that in a way as missionaries we are saving people lives as well. We talked about the comfort that comes from having the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and he wanted to learn a lot more about it and is super interested which is awesome! Roy Gomez and his little brother Danny came to church, along with Luis and Marycruz in Raft River. Luis is really progressing and we hope that here soon we will be able to extend a baptismal date but I don’t know for sure right now.

We had a Zone Conference this Wednesday and basically in the middle of Zone Conference President stood up and said “I feel impressed that we should go to Shashona Falls to admire one of the great creations from the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ”, so we rounded up and went there and took a bunch of pictures and it was absolutely beautiful!!! I forgot my camera at home so I will bring it next week so I can send all the gorgeous pictures I took. At zone Conference we talked about the new Easter Initiative that is coming out and this message will truly bring peace to those that stand in need of comfort.

I testify that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I know that God is there and hears even the simplest prayers, as long as they are sincere. I testify that it requires action to have your prayers answered. Thanks so much for all of your prayers and support!

How crazy, we were at one of their members house, Cheryl Webb Darrington and they realized the connection to my Aunt Pam Darrington. This picture popped up on Facebook. Oh the blessings of missionary service.

Put Your Shoulder To The Wheel

This week was a pretty good week.

On Monday we continued practicing volleyball and this Wednesday we will have the tournament so that is pretty exciting. We taught Gamma 4 times this week and he promised that he would finish the Book of Mormon by the end of March so that is pretty cool. Then we will have General Conference so yeah that is pretty exciting!

On Tuesday we had the opportunity to teach Jose from Raft River and Delfino and we taught Delfino about the Book of Mormon and according to his wife he has been reading a lot so that is pretty exciting and he has been talking to her about what he is reading. We are going to do a church tour so that they feel more comfortable coming to church too. We didn’t have as many investigators come to church as last week but that is okay some weeks are better than others.

On Wednesday and taught Roy Gomez and he is really close to baptism so please pray that he will get baptized! WE will hopefully set a date this week so yeah that is pretty exciting. He told us that he doesn’t have to be baptized with his wife and that he will be baptized without her if he wants to be. We taught Dusty Booth on Wednesday and he seems to be remembering a lot more as we take it a little bit slower so that is good.

On Thursday we went to Jesus and Elia and they said that they really want to get sealed but they aren’t doing much to move closer to that so we don’t know. We ate there as well and I got food poisoning from that food and was sick Friday and Saturday but then I threw up for like a minute strait and all of it was gone.haha

Saturday (while I was sick) we moved Luis y Marycruz to a lot nicer house and yeah it is still in the ward so that is great. They didn’t come this Sunday because they were trying to clean the house that they moved out of so it was understandable. I had an opportunity to speak in Malta 2nd Sunday and we totally forgot about the time change so we went early to go do progress records on Sunday and we had gotten there right on time for the meeting to start. I had no preparation because of being sick but the Lord helped me to deliver a great talk about missionary work.

Overall a pretty good week and am grateful for the things I am learning each day. I love the people and the language, and hope everything just keeps chugging along. I am putting my shoulder to the wheel. Thanks so much for all the support and prayers.

Another awesome week

Another awesome week this week! On Monday we played Volleyball for Preparation Day and then in the night we taught Gamma about the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a priest in the 1st ward named Jared Gardner.

We got a new investigator, Gamma’s brother named Isaiah and yeah he is pretty cool and we will be going by to visit him tonight. On Tuesday we taught a great lesson to Luis and Marycruz about basically the social pressures and the reason why the Juarez family got baptized and that they really didn’t care what their family thought because they knew that it was true.

On Wednesday we met a 17 year old boy named Austin Montoya and he is related to a great member named Alberto Montoya in Raft River. Any who we taught them about the happiness that the gospel brings but his mom talked most of the time but Austin asks a lot of questions and we can feel that he is definitely interested.

With Alberto Montoya on Thursday, we went to Jorlen’s and taught/ reviewed the Plan of Salvation and she has been reading. We scheduled a church tour for Tuesday at 7:00 so we are pretty excited about that!

On Friday we had an amazing dinner at Gibb and Becky Smith’s house. It was smoked Rib-eyes with baked beans and mashed potatoes!!! It was so good and then afterwards we had home made chocolate fudge with brownies and ice cream and it was sooooooo gooooooodddd!!!

On Saturday night we were able to visit Jesus (Chewy) and taught a little bit about baptism and invited him to read the PoS pamphlet. On Sunday we went to ward council at 7:45 for Malta 2nd and then we went to church in Raft River. At Raft River we had Jose y Mayra and their kid Manuel stay for all three hours! ANNNDDDD we also finally had Luis and Marycruz along with their entire family: Joshua, Richard, Darwin, and Emma! They stayed all three hours and both families really liked it. The best thing was that more than half of the testimonies were in Spanish which showed them that there were a lot of Hispanics so it was an amazing day and great way to finish the week.

Our obedience has gone up and so has our work and wow I can really see the blessings and fruits of being obedient. Thank you so much for all the prayers and support.
